US Coast Guard Workshops

Wednesday, 19 January 2011 15:46

Beginning December 2010, GBK master trainers have been performing Environmental Compliance Workshops for the US Coast Guard around the country. During a period of reorganization during 2010, Coast Guard stations were restricted in the amount of compliance training available to them, but this is now being addressed. At least 14 workshops around the country are bringing Coast Guard personnel up to speed on all the necessary EPA, OSHA, DOT regulations as well as applicable Executive Orders and CG policy and technical manuals. Workshops have already been completed in Alaska (in Ketchikan and on Kodiak Island), Seattle (WA) and Norfollk (VA). Next up, USCG Stations at Charleston, Alameda and Honolulu.

Gulf Oil Spill Response Training (HAZWOPER/ERHMI)

Thursday, 27 May 2010 00:00

GBK is currently offering 40hr Hazardous Waste Site Worker training in response to the continuing crisis with the Gulf of Mexico oil release, as well as a number of other safety training options. Following the Exxon Valdez spill in 1989, nearly 7000 clean-up workers and volunteers were affected by exposure to the oil because of inadequate safety procedures and protective equipment. The symptoms of the exposure to the crude oil was termed the "Valdez Crud". As oil starts to come ashore from the BP spill, help keep your workers protected from "Gulf Crud" by giving them the training they need. GBK is an EPA External Provider with vast experience in emergency response training and our courses meet OSHA requirements under 29CFR1900.120 (HAZWOPER). Training is available in instructor-led and online formats depending upon demand. For details, send an e-mail to [email protected] for more details.

This week GBK entered into a 3-year agreement to provide subject matter expertise and support services to noodleStream.com, a leader in providing online occupational, safety and health training to the private sector. "GBK's pedigree in environmental compliance and response ensures that our online curricula in the subject will out class anything else on the market," says Laura Beldon, noodleStream's Director of Channel Sales.
